Akira - Character Concept Art/Design

This is a self created character (OC) that I created in one of my Art Classes (College). The backstory is what I created to use as a benchmark for the character design and vision board. After that I had to create 3 concept art looks for the character based on the back story and references gathered to build the character's appearance. After choosing design, I had to study different ways to manipulate the design in a new form and then study the expressions. Afterwards I created a turn around the character and did a height head count.

Backstory: Akira is an 11 year old girl with purple hair, yellow eyes, and tan skin. She lives in a land by the name of Atrox, as a baker's daughter. This land is fulled with magic and mystical creatures. Her mother dies when she was 4, so it is just her and her dad. Once day she was selling some bread around town and came across an old man in an ally way. He was in desperate need of food, so she decided to help him out by giving him a loaf of bread. After doing her rounds of selling bread she gets ready for bed. Only to be greeted by a Sorcerer in her room. He explained that he was disguised as the old man from earlier and thanked her fro the bread. Telling her that because of the strength of her goo heart she also has strong magic potential. Disguised as a cat, the sorcerer would teach Akira spells every night and guide her on this magical journey. IN order to protect her father and the town she has to keep her magic a secret. However, she is unaware of the dark magical creatures that lurk beyond her town, or the dark ruler that grows stronger in power each passing day. When ready she will have to face the dark ruler and, little does she know, the fate of Atrox rest on her shoulders.
